We’re proud to share that SVET VMES won 1st Prize in the Open Anonymous Architectural Competition for a timber kindergarten in Kočevje, Slovenia.
Designed for 350 children, the project transforms a brownfield site into a vibrant, sustainable learning environment. Two central atria — the “puddle” and the “hill” — bring light and spatial richness, while playful elements like façade nooks, a tunnel stair, and a slide support exploration and independence. Built almost entirely of wood, with a CLT structure and thermally treated spruce façade, the kindergarten meets the Passivhaus standard.
