Ana Kreč & Jure Hrovat will tutor the XII. Architectural Summer School in Ohrid

Ana Kreč and Jure Hrovat have been honored to serve as lead tutors for the XII Architectural Summer School in Ohrid, North Macedonia, hosted by the School of Architecture and Design at the University American College Skopje in the first week of July 2025.

This year’s theme, RESILIENT SCHOOL: in Declining Demographies, challenges participants to critically engage with Ohrid’s central school quarter—anchored by the iconic St. Clement of Ohrid Gymnasium—an area rich in modernist educational architecture and communal spaces now imperiled by speculative development. The program invites an urgent inquiry into how educational infrastructure can be reimagined as a resilient, multigenerational civic framework that fosters lifelong learning and urban continuity.

Through immersive fieldwork, rigorous analysis, and thoughtful design, students will investigate how architecture can preserve and invigorate public space amid demographic shifts and environmental pressures, not through new construction, but through the sensitive reinvention and adaptive reuse of existing assets.
