From structured learning to seasonal inhabitation – rethinking the boarding school as an adaptable, dual-purpose spatial framework.

During the summer months, Bežigrad Boarding School operates as a youth hostel to supplement its income. For nearly a quarter of the year, it serves a dual function, which must maintain the same level of quality and usability.
The interventions ensure students' sleep and study cycles remain undisturbed by social activities while giving educators better oversight. When functioning as a hostel, the building should offer a memorable experience on par with other accommodations in Ljubljana. To enhance visitors' stays, the dining room is transformed into a café and mini shop featuring Slovenian products.
