House in Krnica

The new house features a timber roof supported by four elements: a ruin’s stone wall, a wooden shed, a concrete block, and a steel load-bearing cabinet.

On a location that is distinctly steep and cut in two by a ravine with a stream.

The existing plot currently contains a house with a stone plinth – already a ruin.

The weekend house in Krnica will be intended for winter and summer vacations for a family of four. On a location that is distinctly steep and is cut in two by a ravine with a stream, the client wants to build a house for simple living, which will allow contact with nature and where the sound of the nearby stream will be heard.

The underground part of the house is designed as a base – a dug-in pedestal visible only from the eastern direction, which opens towards the stream.

13

14

There will be only four supporting elements above the pedestal – a stone wall, a wooden shed, a service concrete block, and a steel load-bearing cabinet. They will exclusively carry the entire roof with full gables.

15

16

All windows facing SE on the ground floor are sliding and allow full opening. In this way, in the summer it will be possible to completely connect the exterior and interior of the building and thereby increase the living area.

We will preserve the ruins as stones and transform them into a new wall, forming a barrier to the road on the west side of the building.
