Ljubljana's strategic plan identifies its green wedges (Rožnik, Golovec, Barje, Litostroj, Bežigrad) as vital ecological, social, and aesthetic pillars. Despite this, urbanization still continues. Building at the Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship's exit impairs its western entrance ambiance. This expansion is unjustified given the available BF campus land, demanding an alternative.

In the immediate vicinity of the prescribed competition area there is land currently used as BF agricultural testing fields. The proposed solution is to connect the two parts of the campus by relocating the testing fields, which also means more opportunities in terms of accessibility. The logic behind the layout of the building volumes is inherent in the design of the eastern and newer western portions of the campus, which envisage a linear addition of buildings along the so-called "knowledge street".

The proposed volumes of new facilities at an alternative location represent the physical and functional connection of the two parts of the campus. By rotating and splitting the maximum volumes, we obtain a seam design that connects the green landscape on both sides of the site and pulls it into the intermediate space of the buildings.

The underground garage enables vehicular access from both campus sides, minimizing dormant traffic. Pedestrian circulation operates on three integrated levels: inter-building connections, the Glinščica learning path, and east-west/north-south transversals. Primary service access and faculty entrances are concentrated on the northern plazas, while southern plazas provide secondary pedestrian entry to first-floor facilities.

We relocate BF agricultural testing fields adjacent to the competition area. This connects the campus’s eastern and western parts via the inherent "knowledge street" logic, enabling linear building additions. The move enhances accessibility while unifying the campus physically and functionally, avoiding Trail encroachment.

The four volumes form five ambiances, two sloping southern plazas that serve as secondary entrances to the new college, and three northern plazas that provide the facility with main entrances and service entrances from the north. The pedestral walkway angles southward for access, while the facade’s split shell metaphor reveals collaborative interiors. Collaboration hubs emerge at crossroads of longitudinal (labs/services) and transverse (staff/student) zones, transforming formal rooms into informal group spaces. This protects the Barje wedge and the Trail’s entrance experience

Faculties have separate north entrances via a connective pedestal. Lamellas organize longitudinally (labs exterior; services/teaching interior) and transversely (administration/staff at ends; student areas centrally). Their intersection creates collaboration hubs—transforming offices into open workspaces and prioritizing informal group zones for synergistic innovation.

Honorable mention
"for a high-quality intellectual provocation that deliberately deviates from the formal requirements of the design assignment and chooses a new location for the new campus, thus violating the terms of the competition."
