Square – Street – Home

A welcoming entry hall unfolds across three spatial atmospheres – square, street, and home – inviting pupils to choose their own path of social connection and learning.

The existing multi-storey building student home, built in 1980, is also a youth hostel and a school library. The entry hall of the student house serves as a common area used for different exhibitions, events and meetings that help create a unique high school climate.

The design concept is divided into three program areas: square, street and home. Entry hall represents a public square, hallway represents a public street, and parallel space is a metaphor for home. The existing space is cleansed to minimum, leaving only the construction.

Program frames are independent elements enabling different programs to take place, namely resting, studying, games and art, but at the same time also serve as a reception, information counter and computer nook.
